Grief can affect us emotionally, physically, relationally, and spiritually. While the death of
someone we love may be the loss we most readily associate with grief, loss can also come
through changes in relationships, health, family circumstances, employment, or other
significant life transitions.
There is no single way to grieve and no set timeline for moving through loss. You may
experience sadness, difficulty concentrating, changes in sleep or appetite, withdrawal from
others, loss of enjoyment, or a sense of being unable to move forward. At other times, grief
may simply feel difficult to put into words.
Whatever your experience looks like, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
At ICC, we understand that grief is an individual journey. Counseling provides a
compassionate and confidential place to talk about your loss, understand how it is
affecting your life, and process your experience at a pace that respects your needs and
circumstances.
Our therapists can walk alongside you as you navigate the emotions and changes
associated with loss, develop healthy ways of coping, and begin finding a path forward
while honoring what—or whom—you have lost.
When faith or spirituality is meaningful to your experience of grief, those perspectives may
also be thoughtfully incorporated when desired and in ways that respect your beliefs and
comfort level.
You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation.
