Children do not always have the words to explain what they are experiencing. Changes in
emotions, behavior, relationships, or everyday routines may sometimes be one of the ways
a child communicates that something is difficult.
Parents or caregivers may notice increased worry, sadness, irritability, withdrawal, changes
in behavior, difficulties at school, challenges with friendships, trouble adjusting to family
changes, or other concerns that seem different from the child’s usual patterns.
Child Therapy can provide a supportive, developmentally appropriate environment where a
child can express concerns, better understand emotions, and develop healthier ways of
responding to challenges.
At ICC, our therapists consider the child’s age, development, family circumstances, and
reasons for seeking counseling when shaping care. Parents or caregivers may also be
involved when appropriate as part of supporting the child and understanding concerns
within the broader family context.
Our goal is to provide care that respects both the child and the important role of parents
and caregivers in their life.
ICC currently provides Child Therapy beginning at age 5.
You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation.
